Things You Should Look For Before Buying
Before looking at our best picks for today’s article, I want to discuss what you should look at before buying,
Before buying any kind of budget laptop. It’s important to choose the platform you want to use. You’ve got three choices. Generally, Windows, Chrome, OS, and Mac, the latter is a bit more expensive, but you can still find a great model if you want one. Each of these has its advantages. The most popular of them is Windows OS since it delivers great versatility and compatibility and a wide range of software selection with ease of use.
Chrome OS has a very simplified OS generally made to run on budget devices with lower performance specs, and it focuses on productivity and casual use. Mac systems, on the other hand, are pretty similar to Windows OS, but with slight differences. They’re pretty safe as a first and the experience is very intuitive and optimized.
Traditional or 2-in-1
Traditionally, laptops rock the clamshell body. That’s pretty good and intuitive. But in the last few years, two and one devices have risen in popularity and prominence. This is because these devices have become cheaper and more reliable as they combine two devices in one body quite smoothly. The two main ones are a great mix between tablets and laptops, delivering the functionality of both. While they’re generally more expensive, they come with some caveats in the budget range.
One of the most important things, when you’re buying a laptop, should be portability. And if it’s not an issue for you, you’re better off with a desktop PC, to be honest, in the budget range. It’s hard to find super-slim laptops, but then again, you shouldn’t settle for something that feels like a brick. You should find a good balance between size, weight, and value for the price. There are different categories in size and you’ll find laptops starting from 11-inch panels to 18-inch panels. So choose wisely.
This model is the best overall for us. It gets a perfect score in all categories.
If you’re looking for the definite best budget laptop in the market, then you should take a look at the Asus Vivobook S15. This laptop is a great one. Without any compromise, it can. The beautiful style, slim design, great performance specs, a nice selection of ports, a great set of interesting features and so much more a device worth considering. The most impressive thing about the Asus Vivobook S15 is that it comes in a colorful design and there are a total of four options you can make. Options include dreamy white, Gaia green, indie black, and resolute red.
That’s the color of the LED, mind you, and it’s pretty playful. The same playful color goes onto the outline of the enter key, which creates a nice, easygoing vibe. I should state that the whole thing feels quality as it’s made from aluminum alloy and it’s just 0.63 inches thick. The Asus Vivobook S15 has a 15.6 inch Nano edge display with a beautiful full HD resolution and the slim bezels around it make it look even bigger a great choice.
The viewing angles of the panel are also pretty good on the brightness’s solid. The colors were also amazing in my opinion, and watching movies in this panel was very satisfying. As you get all the details and you’re immersed in the colors, there are also plenty of ports here, including two USB 2.0 ports, a micro SD card reader, a USB 3.0 port, a USB type C-port and an HDMI port.
In terms of performance, it’s packed with a powerful Intel core i5 10210U processor with a post-box speed of up to 4.2 gigahertz to complement the amazing processor. It has eight gigabyte RAM, 512 gigabytes of SSD, and an integrated Intel graphics unit. The specs are a great way to get on with your productivity tasks and everything else in between, except for some heavy-duty gaming, hence its lack of dedicated graphics unit, but overall the absolute best in the budget range.
- 15.6 17 Full HD IPS display with viewing angle
- The small form factor is 18 mm slim and weighs just 1.7 kg
- Comes with both an SSD and an HDD
- An NVIDIA GeForce 940MX GPU with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory

Before we talk about the best model overall, let’s look at the runner-up for this list.
It’s the Acer Aspire 5. Nearing the top of our list, we have one of the most impressive budget laptops in the market, the Acer Aspire 5. This is one of the most well-thought-out laptops out there. And we’ve seen that what Acer can do in the budget range from the last entry. This is the laptop that can work wonders for a wide variety of uses, and it’s packed with some high-end performance specs to back it up. The Acer Aspire 5 doesn’t look like a budget model at all. It looks more expensive than it actually is and also is very aesthetically pleasing.
The body is made out of plastic and covered with a brushed metal finish to give it a beautiful look. The only thing that gives away that it’s a cheap laptop is its bezels around the screen. Then again, moving on, it’s pretty slim and it’s officially known as Acer Aspire 5 slim as it measures 0.71 inches at its thickest for connectivity. You have plenty as well, including 3 USB ports and an ethernet port, an HDMI port, and a headphone jack on the front face.
The Acer Aspire 5 is packed with a solid 15.6-inch airplane switching panel with full HD resolution. That’s great. Compared to the majority in its category. It delivers great colors, pleasant brightness, and adequate contrast on an overall solid viewing experience. Definitely one of my favorites overall.
Then again, the preview design rejects any reflection or glare that might ruin the experience for performance. The Acer Aspire 5 is packed with an intel core i5 8265U CPU with a base clock speed of 3.9 gigahertz 8 gigabytes to ram 256 gigabytes of PCI Nvme SSD and an Intel UHD Graphics six twenty to deliver a pleasing performance for productivity and maybe some light gaming.

If you’re a gamer, then you’ll love this next model. I think that it will be the perfect option for you.
The third entry on our list is the Acer Nitro 5, which is a Beesly device that delivers a great gaming experience for 1080P. It’s the best budget gaming laptop you can get and for its price. I don’t know if you can get that performance, all those parts anywhere else. One of my favorites in the market in the design department, the Acer Nitro 5, is not the prettiest laptop around as it looks a bit like a toy, to be honest. But I can accept all that since it delivers a pleasant gaming experience. It’s a hefty device that weighs about 5.4 pounds and it measures an inch at its thickest point. The lid has a brushed aluminum look that gives it a classy look.
But once you open the lid, you’ll see what I’m talking about. It has a good selection of ports, including a USB port, three USB-type sports an SD card slot Ethernet, and a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack. On the front side, the Acer Nitro 5 is packed with a 15.6-inch in-plane switching panel with 1920 by 1080P full HD resolution. It delivers good colors and nice contrast, but it couldn’t get bright enough. Overall, however, it’s still pleasant to watch a movie on and play games with, especially with wide viewing angles. I should also mention that the keyboard is snappy and delivers a pleasant experience.
Now let’s talk about the main selling point of this laptop, which is its specs? The Acer Nitro 5 is packed with some amazing parts, including the 7th generation Intel core i5 7300 HQ CPU with a clock speed of 2.5 gigahertz, which might sound a bit weak, but it’s great for gaming without raising the cost. Moving on, it only has 8 gigabytes of RAM, 256 gigabytes of SSD, and an NVidia video G-Force, GTX 1050 graphics unit with 4 gigabytes of dedicated VRAM making it capable of running all the latest AAA games with smooth frame rate grateful HD settings.

- Good battery time
- Wi-Fi 6 supporter

Best Budget Laptop for Students
If portability is important to you, then I would recommend this next model.
The next entry on our list is the Apple MacBook Air, which is one of the best options for students and it’s also the most portable laptop you can buy at its price. It’s relatively cheaper than its other, more advanced cousins, but sits on the higher end of the budget range. Still, it’s worth considering if you want a great experience with solid features in terms of design this year, Apple MacBook Air doesn’t have anything new except some small details. But then again, Apple has never come on with a wrong design and it’s always been successful with them.
This laptop has all the minimal aesthetic values that all Apple devices have, and it comes in three colors gold, silver, and space gray, all of which are immensely attractive. The whole thing measures about 11.97 by 8.36 by 0.63 inches in total and weighs about 2.8 pounds. Meaning it won’t bother you at all. If you’re looking for a wide selection of pools, you have to look elsewhere as the Apple MacBook Air has two USB-type C-ports with all three support and a three-point five-millimeter headphone jack. That’s all you get here on the front, you’ll see a 13.3 inch plain switching panel with LCD backlighting.
The night of resolution of this panel is a healthy 2560 by 1600, which results in 227 pixels per inch, which is great. The colors are excellent as well. And while it may lack OLED or HDR features, the true tone feature does an amazing job in terms of performance. The Apple MacBook Airs is packed with the exceptional Intel core i3 1000 energy for dual-core for thread CPU with a clock speed of up to 3.2 gigahertz.
This is further supported by eight gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of fast SSD storage. That’s not all, though, as the Apple MacBook Air is packed with the Intel Iris Plus Graphics unit to help things out in that department. On top of that, it has a solid battery life that delivered about 10 hours in my tests, making it a solid option for the majority of users.
- Excellent battery time
- Slim and light
- Retina display
- Internal Storage
- Useful apps
- Old CPU
- Not touch screen
- There is no USB Type-C
- Short hardware upgrade
